Sigma 70-300 lens

My research on budget lenses has been enormous to say the least. I did undertake it keeping in mind the Nikon D200, but they are fine for other bodies too. I personally believe Nikon’s VR system lenses are just scam, though I am no judge or expert, just a shooter. I don’t know for sure how VR works at different shutter speeds and if at all it is effective or worth all the hype and my hard earned money. Incidentally, you can also take sharp, bright and clear images with even a thirty year old lens. Its all about your technique. Unless you are both a break dancer and photographer who wants to practice both vocations at the same time, you wouldn’t probably need any VR system in your lens.

If you have a tripod it doesn’t matter if you are shooting at a slower shutter speed. The manual suggests that you can happily turn off the VR system on the lens if you are using a tripod. As far as I know VR lenses don’t have any special optics than normal lenses. So I have excluded most VR lenses except one. The following lenses with their respective focal lengths are suitable for professional photographers who do weddings, portraits, wildlife, etc. Most of the Sigma and Tamron lenses are also available in Canon, Sony and Pentax mounts.
